Cartago was the colonial capital of Costa Rica up to 1823 when she moved the capital to San José. It is characterized by their colonial constructions that even today in day they are very common of finding in the whole county. In Cartago the Basilica of the Virgin of the Ángeles is located.
Their mountainous relief is formed by two mountain ranges: the Power station where you/they are the volcanos Irazú, the highest in the country, and Turrialba, and the mountain range of Talamanca where highlights the highest hill in Costa Rica, the Chirripó with 3,819 meters on the level of the sea.
