Puntarenas is the biggest county in Costa and it is communicated with the rest of the country by very good roads, and it has a ferry that crosses the Gulf of Nicoya. It is to 115 Km. of the capital.

In general, the county is characterized to have a warm and humid climate, of the humid tropical type, with maximum temperatures that are about the 34°C, and minimum that rarely lower of 20°C.
